About the book
Prague Green City Guide is an independent Prague guidebook, written for eco-conscious travellers. Our philosophy is that little lifestyle changes can add up up and collectively make a difference. So no matter where you are in your own journey to a sustainable lifestyle, we’re sure our book has got something for you!
From vegetarian restaurants and eco-hotels to sustainable fashion shops and bike tours, Prague offers more green alternatives than you probably imagined. We spent two years researching and interviewing the city’s most sustainable, eco-friendly and socially conscious businesses, and are happy to share the fruits of our research with you. So get ready to enjoy all the most exciting things the city has to offer — and with a lighter ecological footprint!
In addition to the 167 tips contained in guide, the cover of our book also doubles as an unfolding map to help you find your way while on the go. About the authors
We are Jennifer Dózsa-Day (pictured right) and Aneta Hebrová (pictured left), an Austrian-American and a Czech both in love with the city of Prague.
In 2014 we set out to uncover the greener side of the so-called “Golden City.” We aspired to pursue a lifestyle more in line with our values and our belief in the importance of respecting the health of our bodies, society and the planet. Over the next two years we interviewed over 250 local eco- and socially-conscious businesses, non-profits and experts to find out which alternatives were available to us locally that could enable us to make more conscious decisions in every realm of life. Over the course of those two years we also built up a local non-profit called Greenglasses, focused on raising awareness about sustainable consumption, and organized two well-attended sustainable lifestyle festivals. We had discovered a side of Prague that we never knew existed, full of creative and conscientious people on a mission to improve their communities and the world, and knew we had to share our findings with others. Gradually we began to shift our own lifestyles, and hope that our book has helped others to make more conscious decisions as well.
